Compare the two passages

 What “truth” is Jesus trying to convey?

In what way will this “truth” impact your discipleship? 

Read:  John 3:16-17

How does V:17 impact your thinking about V:16?

How does this change your view of others?

      PRAYER TIME:

Pray that God will prompt your partner to reach out in Christ love to the person they have identified.

Pray that your partner will view others differently in light of the scripture studied.

What does this verse mean to you?  What specific action can you take this week to allow this verse to become a reality?

 What difference does this concept make in how we love others?

 Does the knowledge that chapter 13 builds upon chapter 12, make a difference in the interpretation of chapter 13?

Prayer Time:

Pray that your partner may only speak in love this week.

Pray for your partner that the gift of God’s love will be evident in their lives during this advent season.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Include V: 11&12

1.) Read James 2:14-20

Pastor Mike used this passage to correlate with words and actions in proclaiming Christ. Do you agree or not – Is this two sides of the same coin?

2.) Read Matt. 10:16-20

Pick out three significant points for you personally from Jesus’ words.

3.) Read Romans 12:14-21

If this is actually possible give an example from your life or evidence from someone else.

Prayer Time:

Pray for courage & compassion to be evident in your partner to others.

2.) Read John 14:27 (one of Pastor Mikes favorites)  What specific area of your life needs to be infiltrated with the Spirit’s peace?

3.) Read Hebrews 12:14-15

How much should we surrender for peace? 

How does Holiness help or restrict the work of peacemaking?

Pray for a specific person that your partner needs assistance with in the area of peacemaking.

Pray for a specific area of peace in your partner’s life.

2.) Read James 2:12-13 Pastor Mike related this to “Perfect Justice” Do you agree?  Does this change your image of justice? How?

3.) Read Luke 7:36-50 What cultural “norms” were not done that caused Jesus to feel shamed by Simon? How does Jesus’ reaction guide us in our response to others in a similar situation?

1.) Read very carefully

1 Chronicles 28:9 and put in your own words King David’s advice to his son Solomon; how does it apply to you? (there are 7 distinct areas he covered)

2.) Read Philippians 3:7-11

How do these verses relate to a pure heart?

3.) Read Philippians 4:4-9

Paul sandwiches V:7 with advice, resulting in the promise of V:7. What advice does he give & how does it apply to you personally?

Prayer Time:

Begin your prayer time with “Popcorn Praises” One sentence or one word praises

Pray for a specific area that your partner is struggling with in regard to purifying their heart.
